Raiser's Edge solicitor types and the Solicitor Performance Analysis Report

Options
Hi everyone,

How does your organization handle solicitor assignments and types? Do you have a staff solicitor and a board solicitor type? Do you have one for annual/major gift solicitors and one for event solicitors? What are the challenges when you have more than one solicitor type?

Per our Blackbaud Database Audit, we were instructed to have only two types; one for staff solicitors and one for board solicitors--that's it. However, there are a few prospects that have solicitor X for annual gifts and solicitor Y for event gifts. A suggestion was made to create another solicitor type for events but we are looking at potential downsides to doing this.

I recommended we create proposals since we would easily be able to do QA on the gift level assignments (GLA) since the GLAs are primarily considered when running the Solicitor Performance Report

Let me know.

Thanks!

I guess we'd score poorly on a database audit.  We have multiple types and many marked as inactive.  The solicitor performance analysis (spa) is one of our most used reports.

We have board, staff (soliciting other staff), and volunteer solicitor types for a variety of funds: annual, specific capital campaign.  We do not have MGOs. Yes, some records end up with multiple assigned solicitors.  We use start and end dates so on the consistuent record legend is set to 'gray' for any past solicitor relationships. Often asked who was their annual campaigner when we are considering capital requests.

Because we use SPA and want to see all $$ in totals we have a solicitor type for memorials, unsolicited  and and have added 'mailing' so we didn't have to pull separate report for those.  I don't really see why BB would say to only have 2 types.
