Loyal Donor Society With Lapsed/Forgiving a Year

Is there a way to pull a report that shows consecutive years given, but allowing for 1 missed year of gifts?


We have a loyal donor society that includes donors who give consecutively for 5 or more years. Lateley we have been talking about allowing a donor who may have missed a year to remain in the giving society. Is there an easy way to report on this?

An easy way?  No.  While RE can pull reports for consecutive, it can not for consistent, long-term who've missed a year.  It's been a while so not sure if you can get to the posts but there have been several extensive threads on ways to pull this info.  Believe Josh B was working on a project related to this. 


How we gathered the info was to Export records in our query of donors meeting the criteria and then you have to export field (we used total giving) for each year.  Can take some to set up initially but then after than you just need to add most recent year.

We base it on the number of years given total - but not consecutive.  It's a little involved, there is no canned report if that is what you are asking.

I use this constit query:

Summary Field Total Number of Gifts greather than equal to 5 (that is our lowest window reported) and within that Summary also choose Gift Date last 20 years, Gift Type one of: and Fund ID one of...


I then export that with columns for 21 years, each formatted as separate fields, not the choose Gift and then say to export 21, actually choose the fields 21 times with one entry for each year.  You can then figure out from the spread sheet how many years each has given.

I use a pivot report, bringing all gifts for a time span and setting up the report so that the gift year is at the the top of each column, with Constit ID as each row and gift amount in the cells.

Then, I add a CountA formula to the end of each row that counts the number of non-blank cells.  So, if I wanted to see how many years a constituent gave over the last 15 years, the formula would tell me if any were missed.
