Adding social share buttons to the confirmation display page

Options
I've been asked to update a confirmation display page to include social share buttons for Facebook and Twitter.  I know this functionality in OLX is very limited, and am not sure if there is a workaround for it.  I've been given the code, but obviously editing the HTML is not an OLX option.  I know the workaround for adding an image, but that only is useful for a static image, not one that needs to be clickable.  Is there anything I'm missing?  It does seem that since we can add social share buttons to the confirmation email, we should be able to add them to the confirmation display page.

  • If you have OLX, you should just be able to turn on Givalanche and your donors receive the choose to share on social.

Oh, we do have Givalanche turned on.  The social share buttons I've been asked to add are Facebook & Twitter calls to action to an advocacy petition.

  • Of course. Why did I automatically assume that you were working on a donation form?!

Since we don't have petitions on our site, I'm not familiar with what you might have to do on a confirmation page. I can only speak to donations and email marketing. Sorry!

No problem. In hindsight, I should have added that little detail!  And actually, it IS a donation form -- signers of the petition are automatically directed to the giving form, and if they make a gift, the idea was to add social share buttons to the confirmation email and confirmation display page so people could share the petition. (FYI, it's an advocacy alert for a stronger anti-cruelty law, which is central to our mission.)

    best regards,
