Cleaning up DNC for email addresses

I think the Knowledgebase says you can't globally delete DNC from emails.  Is that correct? Does anyone have any ideas for 1) globally adding DNC to emails and/or 2) globally remove DNC for certain emails.

Can you export them and import them? I forget if DNC is an importable field.

When I did this a while back, I believe the only option was to sit in front of the tv while I manually went through and un-clicked the DNC "box".  DNC does not appear to be an available field in Global Change or Import...although I want to say that that's how we ended up with that indicator on a lot of records.


For me, it's not a very useful field, because it's not really tied to a specific number (like the Phone Comment Field is) and I don't find it helpful in Query or really for anything other than alerting fundraisers not to use that particular Phone when making a single call/email to that particular constituent.  I use different Phone Types to indicate inactive/unsubscribed/hard bounced Phones.  And I like the Comment Field for additional information or to refer to a Constituent Note when more space is needed.

The ImportOmatic plug-in can do it. I use it all the time during our telephone appeals, as I can have several hundred DNCs to add each morning. We're on RE 7.93 but if you're on 7.94+ then it's worth noting that IOM matches phone numbers not using the phone import ID but rather with a combination of address import ID and phone type, which is not necessarily enough to uniquely identify a phone number in newer versions of RE so there might be some unexpected results.
