Criteria Design Checklist

Options
I am in charge of doing all queries for our team. I find that there are a lot of Issues because people don't understand RE or know what they want in the end. Is there a criteria design checklist that anyone can share that I can have people fill out with the criteria that they want for queries to help the process? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Requesting info can be confusing for non-RE users.  There are several other posts related to this - data/fields for reports/queries.  Seach for 'data request' form.  Here's a link to one of the threads: https://community.blackbaud.com/forums/viewtopic/160/21125?post_id=68657#p68657

It might be helpful to review the posts while you await more responses.
  • My predecessor had a query request list, but I'm not going to share it because it's full of potential contridictions that the requestor is certainly not going to understand.

That said, I think the only consistent way to go about this sort of thing is just to have a conversation with the person requesting data. I generally find that after asking them a few questions, I can understand what they're actually looking for, and in the process I can guide them away from things that are basically not possible (or at least not worth the amount of effort it would take to produce) and toward things that are more manageable and actionable.
