OLX EMail List

Is there anyway to remove emails from an OLX email list. I do not want previous donors to an appeal to recieve a reminder email.

The edit button just takes me to the query set up.

Thanks, Mary

  • OLX Email Lists are based on RE:7 Queries.  So if you write/edit a Query to include only those Constituents you want to send to and then choose that Query (or more than one, if that works better) as the basis for a List in OLX, you should be good to go.

    Hey Mary,

As Jen suggested, you could design your query criteria to exclude those people. If there is not way for you to exclude the constituents you can create a query that listed all of the people you want to exclude and then merge your initial query with the list of people you do not want to see using the SUB operator and it will remove them from the list. I included the knowledgebase articles that would be helpful if you decided to go this route below:

How to query on specific constituent records (to create the list of people you don't want): https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/41461

How to merge queries (to subtract out the people from the query created above): https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/46327

    Hope this helps!

    Best,

    Grace

  • Thank you ~ great information on merging the queries!

  • Use a query and be mindful to include soft credit gifts in your query if you have seperate records for spouses.

Hi, I have a further question related to this post and just wanted to confirm how this Online Express email list process works.  Here is what I did.  Can you tell me if I'm on the right path?

-Received criteria to include in the list.  (different appeals, funds, and city/zip codes).  I used multiple queries and put them all in a query list to avoid the duplicates.

-Imported the query list into Online Express.

-If my fundraisers want to view the email addresses before we send the email through  online express, how do I export them?  My query list columns do not allow for emails.  and when i export that amount of emails, I end up with multiples of the same emails for constituents.  (part of the issue is that we have emails as email 1, email 2, email 3, emails under phone, under email, and under spouse fields as well, so when i pull the export, i ask for all of those fields)  Is there a better way?

    Thank you!

  • Beth,

I don't really use Query List much.  If you can Export from a Query List, then I would try that to get your emails out.  You might also try Global Add of a Constituent Attribute to the applicable records and then another Query and Export based on that Attribute.  You can then use Global Change to delete the Attribute when you are done with this project.

Sorry I don't have much time today...and I'm not sure how much help I can be without seeing what you're seeing.  Depending on your timing for this project, message me or email (JenClaudy @gmail.com) and maybe we can set up a screen share.

Have you tried merging queries instead of using a query list?  It sounds like you are taking the long way around and making it more complicated than it should be. As Jen said, though, it's hard to really help without seeing first hand. To exclude donors to the appeal,  I just ammend my original query after the first email.
