Journal entries for DIY Form Confirmation Emails?

Options
Hi there! We're setting up a membership signup page as a DIY form. The gift amount gets added automatically to the constituent's journal, but there is no corresponding entry for the confirmation email that gets sent to the constituent. Is there a way to make this happen, and to have the email contact get added automatically as well as the monetary gift? Thanks!

  • Hi Rebecca! I don't know of any way to add a Journal Contact for a confirmation email automatically. I assume you're wanting to have a record that you've sent the constituent their payment confirmation? You could manually add a Journal Contact, of course, but that can be a pain if you get a high number of signups. I use DIY forms for event reigstration, and I don't ever recall seeing an option to automatically generate confirmation emails for online payments.

But if someone else wants to correct me, I'm open to learning more!

This is a badly needed feature.  It would help a lot with the coming GDPR changes in that consent information collected from DIY forms could be journalled.

  • I agree that Journal Contacts for confirmation emails ought to be able to be generated automatically. I made this suggestion a few years ago. Maybe if enough of us request it!
  • It seems so obvious and cannot be hard for Blackbaud to do.  There is a tick box on manual thank you letters for adding them to the journal - we just need the same in the Settings screen for a DIY form - let's keep up the lobbying.
