How do I fix errors when enabling PC2?

If you've clicked on "Yes, enable Participant Center 2" and are receiving messages saying that you cannot enable PC2:

Error: You cannot enable PC2 until you enable the Rich Text Editor for appropriate pages.

Error: You cannot enable PC2 until you enable the HTML Editor for suggested messages.

Error: You cannot enable PC2 until you set a Convio Open API key.

Then there are probably settings that have not been enabled.  Here's a quick way to get PC2 up and running.

Preferred Method

1. Login to the admin side of your site.
2. Navigate to Setup | Site Options.
3. Click "Open API Configuration" tab.
4. Click Edit API Keys.
5. Under "1.     Convio API Key", type in a value.  This is not a password and can be anything you want.  It isn't case-sensitive and doesn't have a minimum length.  For example, you could use your site short name and the year.
6. Click Finish.
   
7. Navigate to Fundraising | TeamRaiser.
8. Find your TeamRaiser and click Edit.
9. Click 3. Select Event Options.
10. Click Edit Advanced Options under the Related Actions menu that displays at the bottom of the left-hand side navigation.
11. Back at the top of the left-hand side navigation, click 3 c. Define Misc. Options.
12. Under 9.   HTML Editor for Suggested Messages, check "Yes, enable the HTML Editor for Suggested Messages".
13. Under 10.   Rich Text Editor Availability on Appropriate Pages, check "Yes, enable the Rich Text Editor on the appropriate pages".
    
14. Click Next.
    
15. Under 1. Participant Center 2 Enablement, check "Yes, enable Participant Center 2"
16. Click Finish.
    

Alternate Method

Alternately, you can set these values by editing the SDPs:

1. Navigate to Setup | Site Options.
2. Select "All" and click Go.
3. Use your browser's find feature to search for:
   1. F2F_USER_RICH_TEXT_PAGES_ENABLED.  Set this value to TRUE.
   2. F2F_HTML_SUGGESTED_MESSAGES_ENABLE.  Set this value to TRUE.
   3. CONVIO_API_KEY.  Set this any value you want.  It isn't case-sensitive and doesn't have a minimum length.  For example, you could use your site short name and the year.
4. Click Save.
5. Find your TeamRaiser and click Edit.
6. Click 3. Select Event Options.
7. Click Edit Advanced Options under the Related Actions menu that displays at the bottom of the left-hand side navigation.
8. Back at the top of the left-hand side navigation, click 3 d. Configure PC2.
9. Under 1. Participant Center 2 Enablement, check "Yes, enable Participant Center 2"
10. Click Finish.

Checking the checkboxes for the associated EDPs is a better remedy than changing the SDP. On the previous page of EDPs, there are 2 checkboxes that must be checked. "Rich Text Editor for appropriate pages" and "HTML Editor for suggested messages" are both numbered items on "Define Misc Options" EDP page.

Except that you always have to go navigate somewhere else to update the Convio API Key.  The Site Options page makes the most sense, since it has the API License agreement and you can set all three SDPs in one page.
