Import-Omatic - Can you globally change records in Raisers Edge??

I would like to globally change our Campaigns, Appeals, and Packages on gifts over the last year and all recurring gifts. I have been using the Administration tool for globally changing records in RE but was told that using importomatic would be a better and faster way to do this.    We have Importomatic but I haven't really used it much as I'm new to Raisers Edge and haven't had the need to change records until now.

Question 1:   Is it possible to do this through Importomatic?

Question 2:   Would it be easier?

Question 3:   How do I do it, the documentation isn't very good and I haven't heard back from support yet.

My understanding is that you cannot change existing gifts with Importomatic.
