Downloading contacts from Gmail and uploading to Plaxo

Options

If you are using Participant Center 2, you may have seen the following message when importing contacts from Gmail.

"The import failed. If the problem persists, please contact Plaxo Customer Care."

According to Plaxo Forums, there is a bug when trying to read contacts from Gmail (http://forum.plaxo.com/showthread.php?t=11421&highlight=gmail).

Plaxo is responsible for fixing this issue, so in the meantime, you can get your Gmail contacts with the following workaround:

1. Log in to Gmail.

2. Click Contacts (in the side navigation).

3. Click Export (above the contact list on the right).

4. Set the filter you want under "Who do you want to export?"

5. Select "Outlook CSV format (for importing into Outlook or another application)" under Which export format?.

6. Click Export.

7. Follow the instructions on the prompts to save the file.

8. Back in your Participant Center, click "Add contacts to Address Book".

9. Click "Import Contacts".

10. When Plaxo opens, select "Other", click Next.

11. Select the file you just created, then follow the prompts to import the contacts.
