Adding query results to a rebuildable group?

Options
Does any one have any idea how to add the results of a query to a group? The group that will then go on to be part of an email suppression group.

  • Hi Sarah,

Sure thing! After you create and save the query.. you'll want to click the "Use Query" option/link... and then you'll see the following options on a pop-up window:

    - Create a Mail-Merge list

    - Create a Group

    - Add Query Results to an existing Group

Hope that points you in the right direction!

Additionally, you should work to set that group to rebuild as the "once per year" option. The reason for doing this is to not bog down system resources by asking the platform to constantly run queries. A way to make sure the query runs more often than that is to set up a "Recurring Delivery" in your Email Campaigns area. You can then choose the query-built group and choose to have it "rebuild upon delivery". This will run the query every time the recurring delivery is scheduled to launch from the Luminate Online platform.

A good use of this technique would be with Welcome Series emails to rebuild your groups for mailing introductions to your organization, for recapturing lapsed donors (e.g. any donor that made their last donation over 365 days ago), expiring memberships to announce their membership is expiring and to renew (e.g. 60, 30, 7 days until or after a membership has expired), etc. There are a great many uses of queries tied with recurring deliveries that will automate and make your life easier.
