  • We are a self-hosted Raiser's Edge institution on version 7.95.I recently decided to clear the region code off of ALL address records within our database and delete the values off of the table in Configuration. I'm approximately 98% complete with the project except for 1 minor issue .... I can't for the life of me find all of the addresses which have a region code associeted with it.

So far I've cleared the code from the following:
    • Constituent Addressess (preferred and alternate(s))
    • Constituent Individual Relationship Addressess
    • Constituent Organizational Relationship Addresses
    • Constituent Bank Relationship Addresses
    • Non-Constituent Relationship's Primary Business Addresses (yes, this is a thing)
    • Event Participants' Addresses
Can somebody, anybody, please tell me where to find my remaining addess region entries?!

    Thank you!

  • We submit questions in this post?
  • Have you looked at queries? Exports? Reports? I can't recall right now what I was trying to eliminate (some kind of attribute, I think) and I certainly had it off all records, but it still wouldn't let me delete it from the table.  I think it might be in some report or query that Finance set up a million years ago and still uses, and I leave those alone.  Inactivating is about all you can do, unfortunately!
  • Hi Patrick,

    Some ideas:

Gracie Schild's idea is valid, I just tested it. If a region entry is being used as a criterion in a query, the system will not let you delete it. It might be that the very query you're using to find the value is the only thing using it.

In that vein, I can't think of any other filters that let you select a region as a filter value, but if there are, that might do it.

    But first, some other possibilities:

If you're using Blackbaud NetCommunity, perhaps the field is being used there somewhere?

This one's is a long shot:  Since the tables can be used in attributes, have you checked to see if any attributes (of any kind of record that has attributes) is using the region table?

Let me know if any of this works. :)

For years I have wondered what the little "refresh data" lightning bolt icons does.  It appears at the top of the window when previewing reports like solicitor analysis, LYBUNT.  If a record is changed/updated and saved and the "refresh data" icon is clicked there is no change to data.  It appears to be updating data but I know it does not in these and several other reports that I checked.  If user goes back and clicks preview button again on report set up window, the report data is updated and totals changed.  Where is this icon used? Why is it on report preview screens?

Probably not so much a question for this panel as for RE programmers. wink  Have a great time at BBCon!!

  • Can you explain how to use and setup a macro? We would like to have a field that automatically updates based on constituent codes, solicit codes, last years giving total and this years giving history. It is used to determine mailing codes. Query is how we do it currently but we have over 30 and we would like automate it a bit more.
