Handling duplicate records with Banner/Raiser's Edge

Our advancement office uses The Raiser's Edge but the rest of our University still uses Banner so our databases have to talk to one another frequently. When we converted a little over a year ago, we continued to use Banner IDs so our systems could integrate with one another.    When coding a duplicate record, we'd like to know how other instututions do this when they must also keep the Banner ID.  Currently we are putting an annotation on the "bad" ID with a cross reference to the "good" ID in the annotation description. We then also add a note to the records and add the Banner ID and duplicate ID in the alias on Bio1.  If you could share how you handle this type of information, we would love to hear from you!  Thanks!
