Unassigned Donors - Identified in NXT

Options
Our organization has been on RE for over 26 years (150,000+ records) and we just recently transitioned over to NXT; and therefore, you can imagine all the necessary clean-up involved.  The system is showing that we have over 52,600 donors who are "Unassigned" to a fundraiser.  Currently we have approximately 5,000 donors/prospects assigned to five (5) different fundraisers based on geographical locations.  In order to not assign donors to a development team member just to be assigning and will result in "clogging" up their portfolios  - what is the industries best practice/standards in getting this large number of "Unassigned" donors who have not given in 10+ years assigned? The creation of a bogus name/region and assign them to that particular entity? In addition, do you mark them "Inactive" as well?

  •  I was looking at this as well yesterday and wondering the same thing. It would be nice if there was a way to mark the record as being unassignable rather than marking them inactive. We have quite a few minor donors who we wouldn't assign a fundraiser to - but they aren't inactive. I think that what you said about creating a bogus record for this reason and assigning them to that would probably work and I'm going to explore that. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has any ideas about how to handle this.

  • For a couple of reasons, we are not quite on the Assigning bandwagon yet.  However, I've thought about this problem, too.  I think it would make an excellent suggestion in the NXT Idea Bank to have a way to mark a Constituent as non-assigned.  Maybe with a dropdown box where you can put them in a category of non-assigned...i.e. low value prospect, low value donor, event registrant only, etc.  (A Config Table so each org can set their own categories.)  But at least a Yes/No option.  And then a way to still access those records and assign them, or move them back to the unassigned pool.  We have many, many records that are not Inactive, yet also not going to be assigned to our 2 fundraisers or CEO...but maybe if we get to a point where we have volunteer fundraisers.

Not a NXT user but getting the sales pitch and push from several sides.

Am really wondering now.  Question: - so in NXT every record needs to be assigned to a solicitor?

Oooo, we'd have to mark half our database as unassigned.  We don't have MGO and asssign by specific campaign to a specific solicitor those records they request.

No.  You don't have to assign any records to a solicitor.  The Work Center shows you those who have been assigned to you, and helps you get a big picture of what your prospects are doing and who's in your pipeline.  (If you want, I'd be happy to do a phone call and screen share so you can see it.  I have my set of dummy records assigned to me, so I can actually see something in my Work Center.)
