Tracking Charitable/NonCharitable Gifts

Options

Our conversion to Raiser's Edge 7 was in 2006. Since that time, we have entered two separate "Gift Amount", one entry is the charitable portion of the gift and the second entry in the "Gift Amount" field that is the non-charitable portion of the gift.  The distinction is marked in the "Category"/"Attributes" tab as "Charitable" or "Non-Charitable". Is this best practice with RE?

We would like to simplify the gift entry like we did before 2006 to entering the full "gift amount" and then recording the actual "receipt amount" in the "GIFT" tab.  Is there a reason this new method was advised to change to using 2 separate "Gift Amount" entries for Charitable/Non-Charitable.  Any help will be much appreciated!

That is so strange, and I don't know why that would be done that way since there is a "gift amount," "receipt amount," and a place to record what benefits they received.

  • Definitely NOT Best Practice!

Charitable or Non-Charitable *should* be entered under the Receipt Stack field in a Gift Record.

How do you generate any kind of receipt or mailing?  Nearly every instance of Mail I can think of is either going to ask about Receipt Stack or Letter Type...
