Linking a snippet or survey to a group

We would like to include the email/name/zip code snippet on a dedicated web page, and we want anyone who enters their information on this page to automatically be entered into a group.  Is this possible?  I'm not sure if we should use a survey instead of a snippet, but I can't figure it out either way.  Basically, this is a member web page, and when people sign up on this page we want to segment them to send messages specicially for this group.  Does this have to do with "source code"?
