Transfer Existing Recurring Gifts to BBMS?

Options
Hi Everyone,

We are in the process of implementing Raiser's Edge and Online Express (we'll switch to NetCommunity very soon after RE is live). We have well over two hundred recurring gifts already running in our current credit card processor, Authorize.net. I've been trying to find out if Blackbaud or another vendor could help us transfer those payments into BBMS when we make the switch, instead of having to cancel those gifts and ask the donors to start new ones. Did anyone else address an issue like this during implementation? Any suggestions for us on how to make this happen?

Thanks!

  • We switched from PaySimple to BBMS with OLX about a year and a half ago. PaySimple did not relay the donor's credit card numbers to us automatically, and was not integrated with RE. We did not have 200 gifts - I think we only had around 20 recurring ones at the time (it's grown alot since then) - so for us it was easy enough to communicate directly with our donors. I created a direct mail card with the message that we were switching to a new credit card vendor for better donor security, and needed their card security codes, and had them re-enter their cc information on the reply card. I don't think we lost anybody, though I did have to mail twice to a couple of people.

I don't think it's possible to convert the info from one processor to another due to PCI compliance laws.  In order to cut down on you having to manually enter everything, you could create an OLX page just for recurring gifts (it could be available on your website or not - up to you) and send the link for that via email to the recurring donors.  Maybe you'll get some upgrades in the process!  =)

Thanks for the info, Faith! We had to do that the last time we switched, when we only had about 50 gifts, but now we have 200 and we don't want to ask those 50 people to move again :/
