Raiser's Edge and BidPal - what do you do?

Options
Hi there,

We use RE7 and love it. However we also use BidPal for our silent auction events (1-2 per year) and we also love that. Have you ever found an instance where these two systems communicate or could share information with each other? If not, have you found some way around it?

Thanks,

Esther

  • I'd love to hear others' thoughts on this, because once again, we find ourselves using those little Square "nodes" for payment at our Gala....

No events budget left, so we are using what we have already!

Thankfully we have free WiFi at this venue.  Since I'm a staff member, I am bringing my personal tablet and loading up a browser tab with Blackbaud Merchant Services, so we have the ability to accept American Express and debit on-site too.  Unfortunately we cannot equip the 4 other volunteers at cash-out with tablets, so they will be in charge of swiping the MC/Visa cards.  I'm not comfortable with providing credentials to BMS for volunteers as we would have to ask them to bring their personal devices.  We are installing Square on the staff mobile phones and letting the volunteers use them, as there won't be any risk of them "saving" the passwords - I know many people have settings to auto-save!  ;)

Esther we use BidPal for our action Event as well, unfortunately BidPay is not integrated with RE.  We use to manually enter gifts into RE after the Event.  However starting this year, we plan to import the gifts into RE this year.  You can download a csv file of your donors/transactions/donations from BidPal and import the gifts into RE.  Do you have ImportOmatic?  If you do that will make importing easier.

Joy, we just started using BBMS as our credit card gateway processor.  We have 3 mobile swipe from BBMS that we plan to use for off site credit card transactions.  According to BBMS credit card information swiped using Blackbaud MobilePay is encrypted and no information will be stored on your devise. You have control over password and you can also deactivate the mobile swipe after the event.

Good to know about BMS' extra security policies!  :)
