Donation form edit: how do I change the honor giving fields?

Great question came up recently:

Question:

--> Donation Management"

2:  Click "Manage" next to the Convio Go! Campaign, then click the edit link next to the donation form you would like to edit

3:  on the left hand side, in the process navigator click to the 3rd step in the menu "Design donor screens"

4:  Click "Edit" next to the donation form

5:  The form editor displays all of the current fields on the form in the right hand box and available fields to be added in the left hand box.  You will need to remove the two fields from the right called "Honor Gift - Honoree First Name" and "Honor Gift - Honoree Last Name".  You can remove these fields by highlighting the field on the right and then click the remove button to remove them from the form.   Next, on the left hand side, you will want to find and highlight the field called "Honor Gift - Honoree Full Name" and add that field to your form.

6:  Once you have added this new field to your form, you can highlight it and click to edit this form element.  This will allow you to adjust the label on the field as well as adjust it to be required/not required.

Once you've finished the above steps, you should navigate out to look at your donation form and make sure that it appears correctly.  Update this post if we can provide more detail on how to change these fields on your donation forms.

Another question came up related to these honor fields:  How can we update the hint message that appears next to each one of these honor fields to help clarify for our donors what information should be included in each field?

Answer:

When you follow the above instructions to edit your donation form, you can edit the "donor hint message" for each one of these fields.  The donor hint message will be the text that shows up in the right column of the donation form when that field is selected on the donation form.  Alternatively, you could change what the field label says for each of those fields as well.
