    Trent here with Luminate Support. In my experience, they are reliable and efficient. They are also the only payment processor supported in Luminate Online for ACH processing as stated in our product documentation: How to Set Up an ACH Payment Gateway with Luminate Online.

    They were doing well for us for several years, and then completely lost interest in us as a customer when we actually needed them to do something simple for us. Terrible customer service, I definitely would not recommend them.


    "We used to use iATS with a bit less than that number of sustainers. When we changed our hospital name, iATS would absolutely not change our name that appeared on donor statements. We tried for months, it was unbelievable. It was ultimately easier to dump them altogether, which we did for BBMS. iATS was really terrible to work with."

    We used to use iATS prior to BBMS and we found the service ok, however we wanted to move to BBMS because we found the reporting was better for the team use. We would have moved sooner but BBMS did not have ACH/Direct Debit capabilities at the time so we waited. There is a comfort knowing that anyone of our team members can have a chat session with Blackbaud (RE or BBMS) and get resolution to their issue, with iATS there was a few times where is was the interface between RE and iats and both support teams only new half the problem. Now is just one chat seesion to get resolved.

    Another vote for BBMS. They are very responsive when you need support and easy to use.

    We've had good luck with BBMS, the only issue is when AMEX is used, it shows up on customer statements as Blackbaud and not our business name.

    Another vote for BBMS. They are very responsive when you need support and easy to use.

    We have BBMS and have always been happy with it!

  • We use iATS for all our ACH transactions. And we are very happy. The customer service is outstanding. They have guided us through some 'sticky' situation. And advised us on step to take with refunds.

    We've had IATS for many years, but have only had a couple occasions to call into customer service.  It's been working well, but we are a pretty smoothly run customer for them, so I have no input on customer service except that it's not been remarkable either way.  We are now switched over to BBMS, because it's cheaper for the fees, and feels more integrated to us.  I also would echo what others have said on here about having good customer service from BBMS support the few times we've needed it.

    We have only started using BBMS this Feburary and wished we started using it earlier.  It fine tuned our credit card processes and allows us to have less mistakes from manually entering credit card numbers. The reporting is great also.

    We moved to Blackbaud Merchant Services and have had no problems at all. Great service, more affordable, and easy to use.

    At a previous org, they were using IATS, but when we switched to Luminate we also switched to BBMS, mostly because the fees were cheaper. Turned out the integration and reporting were both also better than we would have thought, so I highly reccomend BBMS over IATS.

    We've only used BBMS and have been satisfied with the service. There were just a couple of instances where we questioned our choice because of it being down and we felt we were losing money by not having it available, although that can happen with any product. It works well for us because it is integrated and support can look into issues with both products. 

  • We've been waiting to implement ACH through BBMS (we have it for credit cards and like it better than the outside vendor we had - was not IATS) but at the time we converted, they told us ACH was not yet available. By ACH, I mean when donors want to give directly their checking account info? That's what we want to offer online so a donor can set it up themselves, choose the date, and have access to their account to change the gift amount, date of processing, cancel, etc (we can do it through Raiser's Edge, but that is only practical monthly, and donors can't set it up themselves; they have to send us a check and a signed statement saying they want us to withdraw the funds).
