Phone number is now a required field for contacting POTUS

Advocacy users should be aware that phone number is now a required field at https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact. This means that if a constituent does not include their phone number in your advocacy form, that contact will fail. It is recommended that you include phone number as a required field in forms going to the President.

    Yes, this is correct. The Whitehouse made phone number a required field. If you already had a live campaign targeting POTUS before the release you do need to go in and update this manually.

    we have an alert that needs to go out today, and we are unable to edit the boxes in step 5 to make the phone number required! i have an open support ticket on this issue. Has anything changed with the phone number requirement? Is anyone else having trouble editing the check boxes in step 5 (select contact fields)?

    Malana in support came to the rescue!! We were unable to edit the contact fields because we had already selected the white house as a target. Here are her instructions in case anyone else has an issue with this in the future:

    In researching further, it seems that we are not always able to mark fields as required when a target is already selected for the action alert. To get around this, we would want to remove the targets for the alert, save, and then add the phone as a required field, and save again. We can then return to the targets and add them appropriately.

    Caroline: we are also seeing deliverability issues again--this has occurred in the past due to changes with the white house form. So i have submitted another ticket. Curious if others are having issues.
