Filling in all the fields on an individual relationship page

Options
Hi I'm really new to RE and I am trying to fill in data on an individual relationship page. What do the "relationship" and "reciprocal" fields actually refer to? In what capacity should these be used?

Thanks,

B.

here's a link to knowledgebase article about relationship fields.  Start there and if you have more questions, please post again.  There are a few other kb things on the field or you can check the user guide chapter on relationships.

  • A lot of the Relationship Fields are going to be per your org's preferences (policies & procedures).

In addition to the KB article JoAnn posted, you can check out this listing of BB training.  I believe that the Learn level is open to everyone...these are on-demand videos.  My guess is that the video on Constituents will at least touch on Relationships (yep, it says so in the description).  If your org has a training subscription, you can sign up for the instructor-led classes, again, I'm guessing Constituents 1 & 2 will both include Relationships.  Regardless, for someone new to RE, these will probably prove helpful to some extent.

    Hi B.:

The relationship/reciprocal fields show how two entities are "related".  For example, you can set up a parent/child relationship.  For the parent's record - the relationship field would be parent & the reciprocal filed would be child.  For the child's record - the relationship field is child and the reciprocal field is parent.  There can be many types of relationships you may want to track, such as employee/employer; owner/business; family foundation/family foundation member; friend/friend (the reciprocal is the same as the relationship); etc.  Hope that helps.

  • Thank-you very
