Adding attendees to tables

We are having a gala event with a plated dinner in November and we are selling tickets/sponsorships through Online Express event form. Is there a way to add a field where the registrant can fill in the names of the people they would like to be seated with. This is hugely helpful when making the seating chart, but this is the first year we've sold the tickets through BlackBaud.

  • I haven't actually done this, but the best way is probably by setting up a Participant Attribute for Seating Preference. It will be messy at first, because people will put anything in that field, but you can group people together later in the seating part of the Event module. We did this for Dietary Preferences at a recent event and it worked pretty well.

    Yes -- any info field you incorporate into an Event form will come in as a Participant Attribute when it downloads into the Event module. You would need to create a Participant Attribute and then transfer the information into the "Group/seating Notes" field on the General tab of the Participant record, so that it shows up on the Seating chart when time to arrange seating.
