Schedule Reports?

Options
Am I able to schedule a report to run automatically and email the results to a set of emails in RE7?

I have researched and it seems i can do this, but i'm not able to figure out how to make it happen.

Thanks

  • Yes! You can! ...that is if you have the RE Queue module. We don't have it, so I don't know too much about it (I'd chat with your account exec), but I did find this RE Queue guide for you: https://www.blackbaud.com/files/support/guides/re7/queue.pdf
  • Thanks! I'll be sure to see if we have the module!

  • Are you hosted? I am trying to do the same, but it seems that the queue is not working properly with Blackbaud hosting ...

It doesn't allow you to email reports, and even if you try to save report files, the file location needs to be in hosting folders (the queue cannot be connected to local or network drives). So, basically, it is useless in this case...
  • We also have problems with Queue, and we're not hosted. (Queue is found under Admin, btw.) I can run a report in Queue and email it then and there, but when trying to schedule it for a future date/time, it doesn't deliver. Our IT tech tried the troubleshooting tips on BB KB, such as making sure our Config-Mail Options are set up correctly, but it didn't fix the problem.
  • I do not believe email functionality works with Queue if you are hosted. See the bottom of https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/53308

Another thing to be aware of if you're hosted and trying to use Queue: going over your storage quota (typically, I believe, 100MB/user) can cause Queue to fail.

In the hosted environment, our use of Queue has been minimal because it has not been terribly reliable and because we can't email directly from Queue. Odd that the functionality is available to non-hosted users, but there you go...

GREAT ANSWER!!!  Unfortunately, we don't have the module, but at least now I know to quit trying to do something that isn't possible!!  Thanks for the clarification!
