5 Year Consecutive Giving with Soft Credits

We have a Giving Society for Constituents who have given gifts for 5 consecutive years. 

I need to know:

1. whether a donor has potential (has given for 4 consecutive years and if they give before June 30th will become a 5 year Consecutive Giver)
2. whether the donor will fall off the list if they don't give before June 30th. 

We include soft credits. 


Has anyone got any tips on how I would go about this?

query.  Then I take that query and run it through the Lybunts
report.

Ideally the consecutive giving report would be nice but you don't have option to pick a start date, just an ending.  You can report by fiscal year which I'm guessing is your June 30 deadline.  You could run report and sort out those on it who are less than 4.  It will include those who've given consecutively for as many years as you have records.


I would do a constituent query using Summary Information > Summary for Gift > Consecutive Years Giving > 4 years > and add other criteria: Gift date between start date back 5 fiscal years and end date back 4 fiscal years / gift type / specific campaign or fund etc.  You need to set criteria carefully but this should pull all those who've given all four fiscal years preceding this fiscal year.  So if they give they are added to group, if they don't they aren't.

Another option is to use Gift Summary fields in an Export. I have an Export that among other things tells me what each constituents' total giving was for each fiscal year (including soft credit) going back 5 years. You can flip the [Soft Credit Gift To] radio button in the Gift Summary field to include [Both] constituents to ensure you are capturing Soft Credit and then sort in Excel by each fiscal year to find your consecutive year donors. It's a little more work then running a canned report, but I find the data easier to manipulate in Excel.
