Raffle ticket numbers from a donation form?

There is some interest here in offering tickets for a raffle via a donation form.

My big stumbling block is generating the unique ticket number, and both returning that to the constituent via the thank you page or autoresponder AND storing it in the transaction record.

I thought of using the confirmation number, but of course they want to offer multiple tickets using different donation levels. I would need a number per ticket.

I'd consider the eCommerce module if it offered any benefit. Any ideas?
