Change the Default Email Address in the From Field?

Options
My coworker has done this twice before, but once I caught it because it was her first message and then I caught it because there was a problem where OLX wasn't letting her send messages so I sent it...but today she sent an email message out and forgot to change the From address first, so I've gotten 37 auto responders in the last 10 minutes!

Where can I (or even is it possible) change what the default address is for this field?  I would hope that there is a place to store this, as I would think that it's rare that the Primary Contact for an organization should receive all of this...I'm assuming it's pulling that address from the Account > Primary Contact Info section.

Thanks!  Oh yeah, if anyone has a good resource (and preferably a fairly quick read) on how to craft good subject lines...this one seems terrible to me.  Subject: Be Well

  • Hi Jen,

You are correct, the default From Address comes from Account > Primary Contact. Unfortunately, there is not currently a place for storing the From Address separate from the Primary Contact.
  • Is there a plan to impliment this functionality? Right now we are looking to change from our current system to Express so we can do not only donations but memberships and events online. But this is a bit of a deal breaker. If I'm sending and email from the education department, it just creates a bottle neck for it to come to me first if someone hits "reply." And I can see where this could cause communication inside an organization to come to a grinding halt. (Yes, I know I can include in the body of the email "Got questions? Call or email....." with a different email address but people won't do that. They just hit reply and hope it gets there.)
  • Hi Tracie,

Just to be clear, Online Express does have the functionality to edit the "From" email address for any email blast that you send.

The original poster was just asking for a way to change the default value of this "From" email address so that they don't have to manually edit it whenever they want an email blast to be sent from someone other than their "Primary contact".
