A Bunch of E-Commerce Platform Question

Hi I have two questions about the E-Commerce platform...

The organization that I work for is setting up a E-Store online, and I have two questions:

Question 1: I am trying to set up a discount, and it look likes that when I set it up, it is applying the discount to all the products in the store before I even enter the discount code... Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? And how should I fix it?

Question 2: If I set up a product to be downloadable with a time limit of when the report and how many times a customer can try to download the report, I want that information to show up in the auto responder e-mail that the customer gets... does anyone know how this can be accomplished? If can be accomplished etc...
