"Why was becoming certified important to you and/or your organization?"

Options
Becoming certified was important to me because it's professional development and personal satisfaction.  I do wish I could know which questions I missed, so that I could learn what the correct answer is...I did learn a few things while preparing (for the Associates Level).  I will be preparing for the Professional Level as soon as we work out getting a BB Learn More subscription.  To my organization, I'm not sure it's very important; not even sure anyone knows anymore.

  • It was as much personal satisfaction as anything. Also, better future prospects on employment, current job recognition, etc.

  • How much preparation did the certification require?  I've been using RE for almost 8 years, but am mostly "self-taught" thanks to the Knowledgebase and videos and webinars.  I've become the "go-to" person in my organization for queries and reports, and have recently figured out how to use Crystal Reports (sometimes!!) as well.  What preparation would I need?

  • I probably over-prepared.  But I took the Associates Level, which is no longer offered.  It was more in-depth than the Fundamentals Level that is currently offered.  There are other threads in the Community about the certification exams that will better answer your question, I think.

Thanks!  Trying to make a case for it with my supervisor!
