OE Generates Separate Event Records for Same Participant and Event

Has anyone run into this issue where a participant registers with Online Express for a single event and instead of entering specific guest names for the event, they simply enter their own name (as placeholders presumably), then on the backend, when you download into batch, you notice those names do not appear on the single event record in the Guest section, but in the Events tab you see that there a new records (# depending on how many the individual entered) with the presumed guests? This has not happened before with individuals who register with specific names and this is the very first time this has happened.

We have experienced the same end-result. The event registrant, in one instance, was not certain who he would be inviting so, as a placeholder, he entered his name where a unique guest name should have appeared. I assume on account of the system not being able to differentiate between the one name versus the other that two records are then created in the Events Module. Via the Events Module we had to delete one of the duplicate records. On the reamining record we appended a guest record that simply stated "Guest of [name of person]". This process is not ideal; however, I am uncertain what alternatives exist at this point in time. I would be interested in hearing from other end-users who have encountered this glitch.

Mark Kain, has this always happened for you guys or is this just now happening? This has never been the case for us. Even just as recently as last week a person registered three guests and used their name and it did not make the dupe records. This is our first time with this error.

This situation only occurred three times and each time it was on account of the person registering placing their name in the text fields where a unique guest name should have gone. I will be doing some additional testing of this situation to see if I can consisently replicate the outcome. Good luck.

I've had this happen as well. I thought I would chime in and add that it happened at my last job, where they had NetCommunity instead of Online Express. The interfaces for the two are almost identical when it comes to processing the transactions, so the actual bug may be there or in RE: and not in OLX itself.
