Welcome to Nonprofit Intelligence!

Options
Nonprofit Intelligence enables you — and others at your organization, such as directors and fundraisers — to quickly and easily track and analyze overall fundraising performance with a series of insightful dashboards and metrics. With this easy-to-consume analysis, you can quickly discover fundraising gaps and opportunities, act on insights to drive results, and share knowledge across your organization. Currently, Nonprofit Intelligence in Raiser's Edge NXT includes a new Analyze feature with rich analysis and visualization of your fundraising efforts, actions that help drive constituent relationships, and — with Prospect Research Management — proposal efforts to cultivate major gift donors and opportunities. In addition, Nonprofit Intelligence provides detailed records of individual campaigns, funds, and appeals, complete with metrics to help track and compare the effectiveness of your fundraising efforts. To help minimize impact, Nonprofit Intelligence will release in waves to every organization using Raiser's Edge NXT (including yours!). Blackbaud will notify your organization when it becomes available to you. When it becomes available, system admins at your organization can set up who can access Analyze, and which types of metrics each person works with.

  • When and why to use each metric
  • Explanations of calculations behind the number-crunching

  • Hello,

I still do not have access to the "analyze" selection within the product. Any idea as to when it will be available.

    Thanks

    Hi Ana,

    Thank you for your post!

There was a bit of a delay but you should be good to go now.

    We apologize for the inconvenience.

    Thank you,

    Justin

  • Thank you, I got it this morning and just finished the webinar. I am going to jump in and have some fun with it.

    Ana
  • Thanks, Steve!

NPI was the final straw and selling point for us getting NXT. We just went live last week, but I don't see Analyze tab. I know you said it would come in waves, but I am those waves will all be done shortly.

How long do you expect before this hits all NXT customers?

    Blake
  • We have it and we love it! Our fundraisers are so excited about this feature and how they can see everything in a very user friendly way! Pie charts make anyone happy! Ha!

The only thing they've been asking for is if they can pull this information based on an individual solicitor / fundraiser. This doesn't seem to be available but would be a very useful feature!
  • I am comparing the reports in NXT to my data in RE and I've found - after a lot of work - that the totals don't match because NXT is not pulling sold stock gifts into the reports. Is there a way yet to adjust what gift types you want to include?

I can't show the NXT reports to my director until it includes everything.

Please let me know when I will be able to choose gift types to include - or tell me if I'm missing where I can do this.

    Thanks!
  • Hey Karen! Right now the Analyze features include only certain types of gifts in the number-crunching, and the Help content breaks down what's in the mix for each metric. However, it's understood that everyone has their own unique needs and calculations, so in the future — likely a matter of just a few months — you'll be able to adjust the default formulas to choose which gift types to include. Thanks!
  • Thanks for letting me know! I really like the way the reports look and work. I'll look forward to being able to adjust the default formulas.
  • Would it be possible for you to tell us exactly what gift types are being tracked in the reports right now? I understand that we will have the option in the future of determining which ones we want to use for our reports, but it would be helpful now to know exactly what we're looking at.

Also, if there was information about this availabe, where would I have found it?

    Thanks, Karen

  • Hey Karen! The gift types included in the number-crunching varies some between metrics.
    • By in large, most focus on revenue received — or your cash-in-hand — and only include giving through:
      • Donations (or "Cash" gifts in the database view)
      • Gifts of stock/payment (based on their original amount, not the sold amount)
      • Payments toward pledges, matching gifts, recurring gifts, and planned or legacy gifts
(Note that these metrics don't include soft credits, gifts-in-kind, pledges, or commitments of matching gifts, recurring gifts, or planned or legacy gifts.)

    • Other metrics include a wider range of gift types, such as to capture revenue committed to your organization. For example, the Total amount sums under Top donors on the record of a campaign, fund, or appeal include:
      • Donations (or "Cash" gifts in the database view)
      • Payments toward recurring gifts
      • Commitments of pledges, matching gifts, and planned or legacy gifts
      • Gifts-in-kind
      • Gifts of stock/property (based on their original amount, not the sold amount)
      • Gifts of Other
(To avoid double-counting, these metrics don't include soft credits, recurring gift commitments, or payments toward pledges, matching gifts, or planned or legacy gifts.)

aa7eaa6d8eb95e12997f1ed7a900c18a-huge-fuIf you have any question about the number-crunching behind a metric (as well as why you'd use the metric in the first place or how to recover from a downward trend), you can always find details in the Help. When you select the green ? tab in the upper right, you get a quick rundown of the metrics available based on where you are in Raiser's Edge NXT. From there, you can follow a "For more information" link for a deeper dive into the whats and whys behind a specific metric. You can also search the help by keyword — such as a metric's name — for that deep dive information.
  • Is there any update or thought to when we will able to "choose" our gift types?  Counting both pledges and pledge payments is double counting revenue in our world and makes the reporting basically unusable.  Thank you
  • Hey Beth! The configuration feature is still in progress, but heads up that the Analyze calculations already account for double-counting. To avoid bloated numbers, no Nonprofit Intelligence totals include both pledges and their payments.
    • To focus on cash-in-hand, the ubiquitous Revenue received total includes payments toward pledges, but not the pledges themselves.
    • The more recognition-oriented Revenue committed total includes the total pledge amount, but not the installments paid toward that commitment.
Hope that clarification helps! Keep an eye on the What's New and the blog for more about the upcoming formula configuration, but the existing metrics should enable you to track and gauge your overall fundraising performance and the giving of your donors (with no double-counting!). For more information about the gift type included (or not!) in the cash-in-hand analysis of Nonprofit Intelligence, see the Revenue Received Help.
  • Great that it doesn't include both pledges and payments, but what about stock gifts? Evey organization I've worked for sells stock gifts immedialey and counts that revenue.

I can't show the NXT reports to my director until the numbers are accurate.
  • Hey Karen! The giving totals in Analyze do indeed include stock gifts. Currently, the calculations use the original amounts — not the sold amounts — of these gifts. Hope that helps.
  • Thanks Appreciate the clarification, in order to achieve our reporting goals I still need to be able to choose based on audience.  Also, any idea when we might be able to email reports to others rather than just ourselve?  I checked with support they weren't sure.

    Thank you.

    Hi Steve,

That is our problem! I know that. We sell all of our stock in RE so the totals on these reports aren't what I need them to be. I've compared the reports in NXT to mine in RE and that is exactly what I'm missing - Sold Stock.

Will I be able to include sold stock soon?

    Thanks,

    Karen

Hey Beth! I'd suggest you add your vote to similar ideas — and voice any additional requests or ideas — in the Idea Bank. For example, looks like you're not alone in wanting to email reports to others. Thanks!

Karen, thanks for the insight into your existing calculations and analysis needs. As I mentioned to Beth, I'd recommend you make your voice heard in the Idea Bank and let others throw their support behind the ability to account for sold stock (and any other gift types you want to include in the number-crunching)! Thanks!

***UPDATED: And now I see that it looks like you already have! Thanks for making your voice heard!***

  • Thanks, I just can't understand why you wouldn't include sold stock gifts. Either a stock gift is sold or not sold so if both gift types were included it would make sense to me.

We have the option to sell stock gifts in RE, so we should be able to see them in the NXT reports.

Thanks for listening. I'll take this issue further. I know that you can't just change it for me.
