Sending Emails and Excluding Members Who Got a Previous Email

Options

We could do this in Get Active and I'm hoping someone has an answer on how to do it in Convio.

We're sending an email based on congressional districts to members asking them to call their House of Representaitve.

Next we'd like to send an email excluding those who got the previous email and live in one of 35 targeted states.

Next we'd like to send an email to the rest of our member who did not get one of the two previous emails.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Rick H. Bielke

PS ignore the text below, for some reason I can't delete it.

  • Rick,

    Three ways come to mind.

If all of these emails will have similar messages, you can simply create one message and then create variants of that message.  This may not be ideal for reporting, but the Convio system won't send the same email to the same contact record more than once.  All message variants have the same message ID and thus each person can only get it once.

After you send the first email, you can pull a report of the delivery recipients list and put it in a Group.  You can then put that Group into the Do Not Email section for the next message.

If the emails are going out at the same time, you can put the send Groups for one email into the Do Not Email section for the next ones.

In addition to the options Brian recommended, there is also a Site Option that Convio Support can enable for your organization that will automatically create a group for every Email you send. If that is enabled, you could then simply exclude the group from the first message (which will be named the same as the Email, and found under the "Email Sent Groups" group type) when you send the second.
