Notifying an action to a group of people

Options
At our NGO (Medecins Sans Frontieres) we often need to notify a group of people about an action on a constituent. I can't find a way of setting up a group as the notify list is only UserName. Anybody know if this possible to do? Notifying users one at a time means sometimes people get missed. Thanks, David

  • When you click on Auto-Notify in an action, the list of all your users in RE should pop up and you would just choose who you want.  The username in my database is simply the first and last name of the user.

I really need to notify a GROUP of people - eg the FundRaising team - and was hoipng to set up a group so that we didn't have to remember all the relevant people each time. I gues this isn't possible.

  • We have set up "committees" as organizational constituents. For example, Hospital Board, Foundation Board, Executive Committee (EC), etc. Then we added the members of that committee as relationships, this is helpful twofold, first you can track their positions over time. and second gives you an easier query pull, Organizational Relationship equals EC. WHile we are a hosted site, I currently cannot do this, however, I have done this in the past: EC is a distribution list (DL) in  Outlook Address book so the notify is the DL and all in the list are notified. So, Constituent Name is Executive Committee, Distribution List is Executive Committee. Hope this helps.
