Automatically filling fields in Bio1 depending on content of other fields

Hi All


Not sure if this is possible but i want to auto fill the gender field on bio1 depending on what is in the title field can this be set up in riasers and if so how do i go about doing it please?

If you are not hosted - look into Ziedman Development's Validatrix product which can do this on the fly everytime you try to close a record. An oh it can do so much more.


If you can't do that you should just do a global change. Query on all records with gender = unknown and Title 1 = Ms., Mrs. Miss. etc. and use it in global change. Check the query once a week or once a month and run the global change anytime you need to.

You can also create default sets and use for creating new records - have one for males and one for females. For example, the 'male' default set will drop in the default title (Mr.), the gender as Male, and the entire set of your addressee/salutations that you specify.  But data entry has to remember to use the default sets when creating new records.

I'll second that default sets work really well. I always use them to populate the addressee and salutation fields and you can use them for many other fields.

There is a suggestion on the discovery page for this.

Allow the individual's Gender field to be automatically populated based on the Title field


But I find it just as easy to use a global change to update these records periodically.
