The Irvine Ranch Conservancy, located in Irvine, California, is a non-profit, non-advocacy organization established in 2005, with approximately 50 full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff and nearly 400 volunteers. The Conservancy’s mission is to protect, restore, and enhance the natural resources of nearly 50,000 acres of protected open space on the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks in perpetuity, and to provide diverse opportunities for compatible public enjoyment through scientific, recreational, and educational initiatives and programs. We fundamentally believe that higher awareness and appreciation by the public, through making personal connections to the land, is essential to transforming the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks into an internationally acclaimed treasure of preserved open space and recreational enjoyment.

The Conservancy is funded primarily through management agreements with public agency partners, and has an annual operating budget of more than $6,000,000. The Director of Finance & Accounting reports to the deputy director and works closely with the executive director, treasurer, and audit committee of the Board of Directors. The Director maintains effective accounting and finance operations and ensures that appropriate policies, practices, and internal controls are maintained to safeguard the organization’s strong financial management. The Director collaborates with senior managers and project managers to prepare and monitor budgets and deliver thorough, accurate, timely, and useful reports to end users. The Director also coordinates and supports the annual audit process.

The Director of Finance & Accounting is an experienced professional, committed to building and maintaining effective systems and policies, and is experienced in non-profit or public benefit settings. He or she demonstrates excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills, acting both as a leader and hands-on achiever. The successful candidate is approachable, with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative style, able to effectively communicate financial concepts and data to users who do not necessarily have financial backgrounds.  The ideal candidate has experience with Financial Edge/Blackbaud and Crystal Reports.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.  The Conservancy offers highly competitive compensation among non-profit organizations.
