Prospect tab; DATE ACQUIRED and DATE ASSESED

Options
What is best practice for using the DATE ACQUIRED field represents. I currently use it to represent the date a prospect PURCHASED a property, and the DATE ASSESSED field for the date I gathered the info.  However, others in my org think the DATE ACQUIRED should be the date the information was collected. To me, it doesn't make sense that both fields would hold identical information.  Would love some input.
Thanks,

  • Hi Phyllis!

Your post made me curious, so I went to see if these fields were defined anywhere, and sure enough I found this in the help topics:
    • Next on the Financial Information screen, enter the date you received this financial information in the Date acquired field.
    • If your organization assess or rates financial information, you can enter the Date assessed.
While its not exactly what you are using the field for, its pretty close, and I agree that there are two date fields so you can track two pieces of data :)

I think the key is just being consistent with the data you enter.
