The Senior Research and Prospect Management (RPM) Associate prepares research profiles on individuals, corporations and foundations for the President's Office, Senior Vice President's Office, and other schools and units as assigned by the Director of RPM in support of FIU's $750 million capital campaign. Assists in managing prospect portfolios and the proposal log for the aforementioned areas to ensure maximum return on investment; provides information analysis and ad hoc reporting on a proactive and reactive basis; takes responsibility for al RPM departmental metrics and the development of associated Raiser's Edge reports, quires and exports; improves data integrity and the upkeep of information of the Raiser's Edge by conducting global adds and deletion of data; trains RPM junior staff members and reviews their work for consistency and quality; trains new development officers in relevant policies and procedures as requested by the Director of RPM; manages special projects as assigned by the Director of RPM and conducts other duties as assigned.


• Conducts research and analysis on individuals, corporations, foundations and other organizations for a portfolio of high-level clients including the President's Office, the Senior Vice President of University Advancement, and other schools/ units as requested by the Director of Research and Prospect Management.

• Reviews research and analysis of RPM Associates to ensure the generation of research products of consistently high quality and accuracy in an efficient manner; provides feedback, guidance and training as necessary.

• Assists in managing prospect portfolios for the President's Office, the Senior Vice President of University Advancement, and other schools/units as requested by the Director of Research and Prospect Management to insure maximum return on investment using moves management techniques.

• Takes ownership of all department analytics, metrics and reporting as related to quantifying departmental productivity; creates and generates queries, canned and ad-hoc reports from electronic databases.

• Proactively identifies new leads, and analyzes biographical and financial data to determine prospects' available resources and interests in relation to the University's funding priorities.

• Protects the privacy and confidentiality of information and files in his/her possession consistent with federal and state laws, and Board of Trustees and University policy. All prospect research collection follows the professional standards outlined by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement.

• Recommends specific tasks and procedures to improve the overall operation of prospect research and management programs.

• Interprets and administers established procedures related to the prospect research and prospect management program.

• Maintains awareness of and consults with development officers as appropriate on advances in development, prospect research, higher education, local, regional, national and international business news and events, and in development, affecting the development officer's fundraising area and university-wide initiatives.

• Assists the Director of Research and Prospect Management in ordering published and electronic resources to support the process of identifying and researching prospects.

• Assigns tasks and monitors workload of temporary staff.

• Oversees special projects at the request of the Director of Research and Prospect Management.

• Proactively identifies new leads, and analyzes biographical and financial data to determine prospects' available resources and interests in relation to the University's funding priorities.

• Performs other related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience of research and prospect management.

Desired Qualifications

Experience in prospect research and management, development and/or fundraising, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to compile, report and analyze information from diverse sources and work independently.

Familiarity with relational databases (Raiser's Edge), word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), and experience with online databases such as Lexis-Nexis.

Achievement of a high level of competencies in the field of prospect research as defined by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA), Prospect Research Fundamentals, Advanced Prospect Research and Relationship Management skill sets.

Experience with international research.

Familiarity with reading and interpreting SEC filings.

A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and 5 years of relevant experience. A Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and 3 years of relevant experience.
