Text being stripped when editing letters

Hi all, 

I am trying to edit all my Thank you letters because of the new year and we are adding in a Amount YTD line like this "Your total giving to the NJC in 2016 is YTD_Amount.   But I have tried it at least 12 times and each time it's removing the line.  I have ensured that YTD amount is in fields, and I have added it via the RE addin menu and I have made sure to click next and have even gone as far as finishing it to make sure it saved.  I have even hit the SAVE button in Word just in case that would make a difference.  But each and every time it strips the whole line that I posted above out of the letter.  


The really strange part is that I changed most of the rest of the letter also and it saves EVERYTHING but that one line.  Anyone?  Thank you in advance

  • I would click on the "show formatting"  icon on the menu bar in your word document; it could be that it's there but may have "white text" or be behind a column/section/page break.


    Also, try typing the sentence in a different part of the letter (do not cut and paste) if it shows up there and not in the original place that is a good indicator there is something "wonky" with the formatting of where you had it originally.

    I appreciate your reply but thats not the problem either.  Ive tried recreating it inside Config with the Addin parameters and there doesn't seem to be a YTD amount ability any longer, can anyone verify this?    When you are creating a mail merge are you no longer able to us RE addin YTD amount?

    Summary Information

    Gifts

    Total Gift Amount and then select your date parameters


    If this is a GIFT letter same applies, you just need to look in the fields under Constituent.

    I know the availability of YTD amount was posted about several months ago.  Some RE users have the fields (person posted screen shot with it in listing available to them) while others of us did not (we seemed to be on 7.93).  Don't know when/why availability of the field changed.


    Summary of gifts may be able to be manipulated to do YTD by using gift date 1/1-today.  In Mail > Receipts list of fields to include under Gifts there is a YTD field.  Don't know what it will pull and just don't have the time to play/test today. 
  • I saw that thread JoAnn and mine is missing also.  The weird thing is up until last year it was working just fine.  I've tried recreating it with the summary option but it keeps telling me there's an error with that and it removes it.

    Im at a loss.
