Membership downgrade during the renewal cycle

If a member downgrades their category during the renewal cycle/months before their expiration date, do you immediately change their category and remove the benefits associated with the higher category?


I would love to allow members to keep their current benefits until their current cycle expires before downgrading to the new level. However, Raiser's Edge does not have a standard procedure for entering this within the membership module. I'm curious how other insitutions handle this.

  • We do not have the membership module, but use recurring gifts as a work around. 

    I agreee, that benefits should be available until the current cycle expires.
  • Create a follow-up action in their record to remind you to manually downgrade the membership "at expiration".  For us, when someone downgrades DURING the renewal cycle, we downgrade immediately.
