NetCommunity Recurring Gifts GLITCH!

I had a donor set up a recurring gift on 1/5/16 to draw on the 5th of each month. When I downloaded the gift information, the recurring gift was in the batch. I have since discovered that BBMS charged the donor for their first installment on 1/5/16.

I only became aware of this when I was reconciling the month of January with the business office.

I spent hours with BB support yesterday explaining that the gift should have populated in BBNC and since it did not, I assumed that it was not drawn on 1/5/16.

I was told that I need to check BBMS when this happens to see if the charge was made. Really?

I now need to enter this gift manually and explain to my donor why she did not receive a receipt for an entire month!


Has this happened to anyone else?

What procedures/steps do you take to ensure every Web gift is accounted for?

  • I set up recurring gifts to only have certain options for when the payments are made. (We don't have a lot of monthly gifts and I have been concerned about having to possibly run charges daily and missing some.  So ours come out either on the 1st or 15th.  I cannot say that I've ever had someone make the recurring gift and the payment at the same time.  Are you saying that when they do, it only comes into BBNC as a single transaction?  If that is the case, then I would look to see if there is any info on the transaction detail tab or notification email to staff to indicate a payment. I review those disbursement reports with a fine tooth comb and this would though off my gift entry.

    Yes, I only received a single transaction in BBNC - the recurring gift was set up. I had to go to BBMS portal to see that the actual gift was also made on the 5th - the same day. My recurring gifts come out on the 5th or the 20th. Is it possible to require that the first gift be made at a future date?
