Tracking scholarship funds using RE

Options
Can someone share how you utilize RE in tracking scholarship funds?  Every year, we have to track which scholarship to open to students, the available funds, recipients (if possible), amount awarded, number of awards, etc.  Thanks!

Re: RE/FE - Recording scholarship awards in in Raiser's Edge 7 General Discussions

We had this issue when I worked at a college, and did not have RE/FE integration. So we created different funds in RE for each scholarship and linked that fund relationship with the benefactor.  When the scholarship was awarded, we had a fund attribute Called "Amount awarded" and we would put that amount in and in the Comments section of the attribute we would indicate the students name. We would also link the student with the fund in the relationship record and code it as recipient/scholarship. That way if the donor wanted to know who received their scholarship it was really easy to tell.

This also allowed us to make sure that the donor and student were seated at the same table at the Scholarship luncheon each year where the students and donors could get to know each other. Each student was responsible for writing a thank you note PRIOR to and AFTER the scholarship luncheon for their donor.

  • @Elaine Tucker Hi Elaine, I am looking into the best practices for tracking scholarship recipients. Do you import all scholarship recipients and link them to the scholarship they were awarded. We don't import our students unless they graduate but by doing this I am only able to track the scholarships they were awarded their senior year. Do you have any tips on how to track recipients before they graduate so that way it is capturing all four years? Thank you!
