iPad for TR on-site registration?

We have a number of large walks nationwide and use TR to manage them.  However, we currently only offer paper registration on event day.  Someone suggested that we might consider using a portable computer such as an iPad to handle these, thus minimizing the need for post-event data processing.  I'm curious whether this is possible (I don't know how Convio sites render on iPad) and if so, whether anyone has tried this.
