The National Academy of Sciences is seeking a Web and Social Media Administrator for its Washington, DC office. 


Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent knowledge with three years of experience maintaining an organization's web site and social media activities. Advanced knowledge of HMTL and experience administering social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Working knowledge of web content management systems, with Convio/Blackbaud experience strongly desired. Strong technical and project administration skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple activities and respond to changing priorities; attention to detail and accuracy; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and a commitment to teamwork. Experience in a non profit scientific or technical organization is strongly desired.

Description


The National Academy of Sciences Executive Office (NASEO) is responsible for the Academy's membership activities and meetings, its governing council, its scientific programs, the publication of the journal of original research (PNAS) and Arts in the Academy programs.


The Web and Social Media Administrator is responsible for coordinating website, e-communications, and social media activities for the National Academy of Sciences Executive Office with a focus on membership, governance, awards, and scientific programs.  Working both individually and as a member of special project and communications teams, the Web and Social Media Administrator:

 

*Creates and updates website and social media content.  Reviews/edits website postings created by project staff to ensure consistent application of visual and editorial styles. Advises staff on procedures and best practices for maintaining website content.  Helps to plan and develop website and social media feature ideas and content as part of a communications team.


*Produces e-newsletters, including a biweekly newsletter for Academy members and monthly newsletters for special activities.


*Maintains online graphics library.  Updates existing graphics and works with graphic designer to create new graphics.


*Analyzes website and social media usage and prepares reports using Google Analytics and other tools.  Provides recommendations for effective use of existing tools or conducts research into software options for new online projects.  Tests and performs quality assurance of online applications.


*May serve as a representative on the cross-divisional communications team or support database projects as needed.
