Particpant from last year wants to start new fundraiser

Hi,


We had a participant last year who had such a great experience he wanted to do another fundraiser with us. But he wants a fresh start. How can we start a new fundraiser with him without merging his old event or having any of his old fundraising carrying over? Please note this new fundraiser would be within the same teamraiser event as the old one.

  • Gianna, we often deal with this same issue. Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge, there is not a great way to do this within the same TeamRaiser. It's a limitation of the product. Here are the only two options I know of:


    1) He could create a new registration using a different email address from the one attached to his previous registration. TeamRaiser will not allow you to register twice for the same event with the same email address. The updside of this approach is that it involves minimal effort on the admin side. The downside is that you're creating duplicate records for this constituent in Luminate.


    2) The more involved approach would be to delete his existing registration (from last year). This would allow him to re-register using the same email address. To do this, however, you would have to convert all donations soft credited to him to general event donations, basically un-linking those gifts from him. So you'd lose any TR reporting on his performance last year. Then you'd have to manually delete his registration. 


    Neither are great, clean options. But we've done both before as workarounds. Alternately, depending on the nature of your event, you could copy last year's TeamRaiser and replace the old one with the new one. That would allow anyone to register since it'd be a brand new event.
