Anonymous Donations

Options
I was wondering how to enter/track anonymous donations.  Not donors who always want to donate anonymously (checkbox in bio1), but people who give one gifts anonymously and don't want to come up on our annual reports?  I am currently doing it through constituent attribute but i didn't know if there was a better way i was overlooking.

thanks

  • On the misc. tab of the gift there is a small box for "Gift is Anonymous".  Check that.

When you run reports, if an individual is marked as "Anonymous" there will be an * at the end of the line their name is on.

This is done many different ways.  I adopted our procedure years ago from ideas in forum posts. A key to me is how do you pull your names for your annual report?  Make your way to do it work with that.  Gifts have a check box that can be marked for anonymous gifts.  A gift attribute can work.

We pull our donor lists from addressee/saluations. So we added add/sal type of Recognition: Annual Campaign / Recognition: XXX Capital Campaign / Recognition YYY Capital Campaign to the add/sal list.  I also added "Anonymous" as a listing there so when donor opts for Anonymous I can just fill the recogntion listing with that choice.

This has worked well for us.
  • We use an attribute that we label Publish Name. I frequently run a query for Publish Name and check the names for accuracy and to assure that all records have the attribute. For anonymous donors, I replace the name with the word ANONYMOUS. This assures that their name is never published.
