How to enable the Service Center

Options

If you have your Convio donation form set up for recurring/sustaining donations, you may be wondering if your donors are able to login to your site and modify their gift information.  You're in luck! This can be done through the Service Center.  We got some great questions recently from a Go! client and I wanted to share those here for others, as well as some instructions on how to enable to service center.

A: Yes, we have something called the Service Center that we can turn on through the donation form and make available.  The Service Center allows donors to modify their monthly gifts, credit card, address, etc.  It can be accessed from a Convio-powered page when the donor is logged in.

  • Hi Taylor,

Thanks for the instructions! I followed the steps and have the Service Center configured. However, I cannot find the specific link that will lead donors to this Service Center. And there is no reference to this when I click on the checkbox detailing the monthly donation feature.

Since we are notifying monthly donors to cancel their Groundspring account and "re-subscribe" with Convio, I was wondering how they will be able to access this Service Center after signing up on our website through the new Convio donation form. Also, where will they be able to access this Service Center in the future if they do want to make changes?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks,

    Karrie

    Hey Karrie,

Great follow-up questions!  There are a couple of ways to get the link to the Service Center out to your constituents.  First off, in the autoresponder that sustaining donors receive, we automatically place a link to the service center.  After they make their gift, they'll receive an autoresponder that has a link to it.  I've provided a screenshot below that shows the code at the bottom of the autoresponder (it may look a little bit like gibberish).  No need to worry about that code, just know that it is in place and it works.

In the screenshot above, you'll also see that from the links dropdown menu in the WYSIWYG, you can select "Gift Service Center".  This is how you would place the link to the Service Center in your email communications.  We can help you with this in your monthly email communications that you send in for the Go! team to build out.  But, I wanted you to know where it is in case you have additional emails that you build and send out.  Once you select "Gift Service Center from the links dropdown menu (using the WYSIWYG in the Email tool), you'll see another pop up with a link to "Insert".  Click on "Insert" and you'll be able to type in a title for the link; this is what the constituents will see and click on in the email.  I'd suggest in the email that you send out to also include the constituent login information.  This is pretty simple to do using the WYSIWYG personalization tools, and is also something we can help you with in your monthly communications that the Go! team builds out for you.  Just indicate in the eNews guide that you would like include login credentials. This is also something that we can post instructions on or go over in an office hours session.

Now, there is one other thing we should do.  I noticed that your current Convio wrapper does not have a login link or component in it.  Sustaining donors will need to first login to the site to then be able to see the Service Center.  Once logged in, if on a Convio page, they will be able to access a link to the Service Center. I'm thinking we should add a login link up in the top utility navigation on your Convio wrapper. Perhaps in between the "contact us" link and the search box in the top right corner? What do you think of that placement?
