Introduction

 
The program manager is primarily responsible for the management of program and service delivery of the organization, including direct services to partners/funders/clients, delivery of health promotion programs and direct services that augment and support these programs.

 
Reporting to the Executive Director, the program manager oversees the daily operation of a variety of programs including Health Awareness, Professional Education and Research.  The program manager is a key part of the agency management team. In the absence of the executive director, as a member of the management team, the program manager may be called upon to be directly responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization.

 
Duties and responsibilities

 
Program and services execution and administration:
  1. To be responsible for all facets of programming and service development and delivery, from planning to execution to evaluation and report writing.
  2. To establish and maintain all files and documentation in an appropriate and accountable manner according to established standards.
  3. To ensure consistency of quality, accountability and high standards in all programs and services.
  4. To maintain appropriate fiscal controls to ensure all programs are within the scope of the annual budget.
  5. To maintain accurate and complete statistical records for all programs and services on the agency database, providing funders with comprehensive details on programs offered.
  6. To ensure consistent and meaningful evaluation of all programs and services is carried out in order to assess their impact and success and to make needed changes and improvements as indicated.
 
Management of database, social media and website:
  1. To be responsible for the ongoing management of the database of screenings, health awareness events, social media postings and website management.
  2. If required, ongoing supervision of all health promotion and counseling volunteers.
  3. To be responsible for the training of all practicum staff in the programs area of the agency.
  4. To provide positive leadership to all staff, encouraging a team approach, professional attitude and good board - staff relations, always modeling best practices in this regard.
 
Agency management:
  1. In the absence of the executive director, to deal with the day-to-day operations of the organization, including liaising with the board of directors.
  2. To assist the executive director with the development of programs, communications and public relations material for the various programs.
  3. To advise the board about programs and policies appropriate to the mandate of the agency.
  4. To be an active participant in the management team of the agency, attending meetings regularly and bringing forward issues for discussion and decision.
 
Other related duties:
  1. To participate on key board committees as appropriate.
  2. To participate actively as an agency representative in collaborative partner networks and in related community activities.
  3. To identify learning needs for program and service staff, and for the staff of the agency as a whole, and assist in providing needed training.
  4. Other duties as necessary to move organization forward in a positive direction.
 
Skill, knowledge, education and experience

 
  1. A university degree in social services or health promotion or a combination of relevant education and experience, Masters preferred.
  2. Successful supervisory experience.
  3. Experience writing grant applications and reporting.
  4. Good oral and writing communication skills.
  5. Good computer skills – WordPress and Raiser’s Edge preferred
  6. A capacity to work collaboratively.
  7. Capable of working with diverse populations.
  8. Flexible schedule.
