Is there an email confirmation for new sign ups?
When someone signs up to receive email from the organization, do they also get an email confirmation or just the message displayed on their screen?
If they don't receive an email confirmation, is there a way to set up one?

I believe you are thinking about a Welcome Series.
You can set them up yourself, and I think Convio also offers something.

Otherwise, most ways of signing up in Convio offers some kind of autoresponder. We use a survey as a way for visitors to sign up, and the survey sends an immediate email. That gets followed up a bit later with the first of the Welcome Series.

Welcome Series are a great idea as well and I highly recommend you setting them up in some form to help with new constituent cultivation during that honeymoon period right after they sign up where they are really engaged. We have a Service Module that will teach you all about it and configure it for you but the next one doesn't run until 2011. If you can't wait that long we have FREE kits so you can do it yourself, just go here and download the latest version which has html, design files, how to instructions and best practices in the guide around building out your first welcome series: http://customer.convio.com/site/PageServer?pagename=sm_free

Thanks for the feedback. We already have a welcome series and these new sign-ups will go into that stream, but we're doing a promotion to sign up and then get a link to print a coupon. I couldn't figure out how to also send an email acknowledgement once a survey was completed in addition to the autoresponder that pops up on the screen.

Gotcha. Should be the 3rd step when editing the Survey --> click Switch to Customized Version and it will give you editable email options for the email sent once someone takes this survey.
The actual thank you page you see on the site is usually a pagebuilder page and can be edited from there if you need to as well.

Hi,
I'd like to implement an autoresponse when someone signs up for an email via our Luminate survey. I'm wondering if anyone could provide me with an example of what this message should include. I'd like to say more than thank you but not give away too much of the information that we've included in our Welcome Series. Has anyone ever played around with sending the first message in the welcome series as the autoresponse?
