Online goal vs. campaign goal

Options

In our Holiday campaign on TeamRaiser, we have people doing fund drives for us online.

When trying to set a fundraising goal, we came up with the idea of having our organization have a team on the site, and updating all our offline fundraising on it to reflect our overall campaign goal.

ie. our goal for the winter is $500, but our online goal is only $100. I would put $500 as the overall online goal, and create a team that I would update with all other in house numbers to reach the $500 overall goal.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever done that and if there are issues with doing so...

I have a few questions about this:

1.Do we need to verify the amounts in order for them to show up on the goal thermometer? I wouldn't  want to do this as it would confuse the actual numbers raised online and would lead to double counting...

2. Does it affect any benchmarking numbers, etc.

Any info would be helpful to decide if this is something that can be successful or if we should just stick to an online goal.

Thanks!
