Data guru who has a passion for advocacy campaigns. Tech-savvy problem solver. Experience using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, Convio Luminate and/or SQL. Mechanic for databases and backend online tools.  An eye for numbers and a whiz at Excel. Detail oriented, if not obsessed.

VPIRG is looking for an individual with strong tech instincts, a solid foundation of core skills in one or more of our platforms or tools, and the desire to master the suite of technology and tools that drive our work. The Data Manager is responsible for the management and build-out of our information systems, including a powerful CRM package (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge and Luminate Online) that drive our advocacy and fundraising, a custom SQL database and GIS tools that support door-canvassing and grassroots organizing, and our Windows-based office network that supports a team of 16 year-round and 75+ seasonal staff. You’ll be the go-to person for staff members who need to leverage information in strategic ways to maximize our power to protect the public interest in campaigns that range from clean energy to consumer protection to money in politics. This is a unique chance to join the team that drives one of the most powerful advocacy groups in our state.

The Data Manager will work under the guidance of the Associate Director and will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance and use of information contained in VPIRG’s data systems and for responding to routine requests from staff and increasingly help drive the vision and planning for how technology and information drive our success. This is a full-time position based in Montpelier. During the summer months, you will also oversee and manage the data team based in our Burlington office. This is the ideal position for someone with mad tech skills who wants to do more than just interact with computers. In this position, you’ll work closely with staff to help them more strategically utilize data to win campaigns. This position offers an opportunity for professional development and growth, as you coordinate the tools that power our staff and campaigns to defend the public interest by engaging our base of over 40,000 members and supporters. You’ll be the architect and implementer for how we collect, analyze and use information to better serve our members and our campaigns.
